Slick Orange Theme is Released

Slick Orange Theme is Released Development 31 posts Feb 17, 2003 — Feb 22, 2003
Here's my Slick Orange theme v1.0. Folder icons and customized Safari icons are included in this release. There are matching Desktop backgrounds on my site (http://icons.wagmedia.com). This theme has only been tested with MacOS v10.2.3. I don't know what brushed metal apps look like, so I would suggest losing the brushed metal.

Enjoy!!
I like it I really like the high slickness factor but I don't like the orange color, so the questions just waiting to be asked, are you going to make other color variations ? Like Lime, Indigo and Graphite ....

I don't know yet. I'll see how much people like this one. If enough people like it, I'll make variations...but that probably a little ways off.

I'm really digging orange in my old age - don't cave in to pressure, stick by your guns... it's a nice theme
mmm, reminds me of a creamsicle.

yes. i agree. keep it orange. theres enough graphite (no offense bbxstudio ) and blue themes out there. although the lime suggestion sounds pretty cool.

Yeah, even though I really like all the gray and blue themes out there, I just thought there was a serious lack of warmer themes.
That's a nice theme! Thanks for making it. Make some more!
Be good for the original tangerine iBooks.
Okay, that's yumdiddleumptious! I've got myself a new theme...
Pretty nice.
One little bug that annoys me, though. The menubar text is white, but the text of menu extras (like the clock) is black.

Did you reboot your machine? The white versions should install, but to see them you actually have to reboot the machine, not just the finder.
No, no reboot (yet). Thanks for letting me know!

No problem. I used to wonder about that too, when I first started using themes.
Excellent theme! I'm definitely an orange kind of guy and installed this one right away. Very nice!

If I may, I would like to give a suggestion though. Oranges are, well, round and all that so perhaps rounded corners and/or buttons would be appropriate?

I probably won't be making a version with rounded edges...I like the hard edges a little more. Sorry.
Here's a desktop picture to go with it:

orange signs

Oh, don't be! It's still an excellent theme, rounded corners or not! Keep up the good work!

Cool wallpaper, I'm now using it with the grey watercolor theme, I like the contrast between the grey menu bar and windows with the colorful desktop, on the other hand I also like B/W desktop pictures with colorful themes like this one... So many choices only a few macs ...
This is a great theme. Really clean and bright. I'm using it with the orange bg found here.

My only complaint, is that the highlight color seems too dark. Is there anyway for me to change it, or is that something that is built into the theme? Any chance of changing it or making a variant?

Do you mean when you highlight text? That's just set in your system preferences.

I think he means the menu hilight color, I also think it's a tad too dark a shade of orange compared to the rest of the theme.
I mean the menu highlight color. I have my gama set to 2.2 and the brown looks kinda dark. Something in a burnt orange or a lighter brown would be great.

Nice theme- keep it up.
sorry to throw a wrench here, but I like the highlite color.

What I did notice is with keyboard navigation on, the litte glow around GUI elements is still blue!

Are you going to "certify " this theme for 10.2.4?

Thanks again for a nice theme.

About the blue glow, I've asked how to change that (it only appears in Cocoa apps), but no one has given me an answer. If any one knows how to change it, please let me know.

I haven't installed 10.2.4 yet, so I can't certify it. Since I don't use a BootX file, I'm sure it should work fine.
I'm using it with 10.2.4 and haven't seen any problems yet. If you are really worried just figure out all the files that the theme changes and back them up to some place safe first.
For those that want to completely overdo the orange, here is a desktop pic for ya. I took this from somewhere else (sorry, I cannot remember where I got it originally) and made some color mods.

Get your way too much orange here

Thanks and credit to the original owner of the original version of this pic, whoever you are!

Hahaha. That is a little overboard...dang, I didn't know there were that many orange fans out there.
Make the menus orange..or any color besides brown and beige.
