Brushed theme and Powerbook

Do you think that the brushed theme slows down (overall) your computer? I just installed it on my Tibook and I have the feeling that it's slower.. but that may be just me...

Yes, it's possible that it does. It uses 128x128 pixels large images for the brushed pattern, and that might slow your computer down.

OK thanks. I changed the thme back to Quicksilver and my tibook looks faster now...

Wow, that might be true but i find hard to believe that a theme with 128 x 128 pixels patters would get a Ghz Ti with a 64MB Radeon to feel slower.
I didn't think it waqs slower that other themes back then when i used it in my Pismo.

As I said, it's just a slight feeling of slowness..

I might as well be tired today and feel like everything is slow...

I thought one of the main reasons to use 128x128 pixel images in themes was to speed them up? I know that's not the reason for using them in brushed but I am sure I heard that a lot around here in the past.... so the computer would only have to load and draw one image in the place of 10 normal images.

That might be true, but I think 128x128 is too large. The aqua pattern is 8x8 and I often use 32x32 and I think that might speed it up. But when they get large and more complicated, I think they might be slower to draw. I'm just guessing though.

It helps to run the Brushed version with Brushed menus, since they are opaque.
