103 US Soldiers died on Sunday in the Battle of Nasiriya.

Last report I saw about Sunday was 10 dead, not including those considered missing.

Latest I heard tonight on a news report was over 50. I don't know what to believe anymore.

I think the injured was up that high, but not the killed.

More details should follow later at CNN.

It's interesting how the US has been very conservative about their losses in this war.

In Hong Kong we get to see those footages where the US POWs being screwed by the Iraqi soldiers... Those are pretty offensive.

Haven't seen that stat anywhere. From what I understand, the butcher's bill looks something like this:

US combat deaths : ~10
US prisoners: 6
Non combat deaths: ~5

Brit non combat deaths: ~12
Brit combat deaths: ~5

Iraqi prisoners: ~3000
Iraqi deaths: ?????

Even if the deaths are that high, all I would have to say would be that it shouldn't be unexpected. The gulf war was fought with far less regard for the people of Iraq, a fact that makes it far easier to just pound the $hit out of the enemy at range with explosive weapons (bombs et al). Now, the kid gloves are on, because we don't want a phyrric victory. Like it or not, when we fight like that, the danger for our side goes up.

A soldier somehow enjoy being on the battle field just for the sake of it. They've spent so much time training to be a soldier, they wanna perform. It's a typical soldier's mentality.

They didn't decide to go and free the Iraqi, they just followed the order given by GWB. I guess many of them would rather choose to fight a war somewhere else for a more practical reason.

I know many a soldier before they left. They all claim they are PROUD to be helping these people.

They didn't make the decision, but that doesn't mean they aren't glad they are doing it.

Reuters says the battle is not over yet, so it will take a while before we get a definitive number - but yes, it looks pretty bad.

Looks bad as in, yes people are dying and that is bad.

But when compared to other wars of the like, those are some pretty good numbers.
