Richard Perle resigns!!!

Considering that the administration has almost completley ignored previous attacks on it's seemingly conflicting interests, corporate connections and allegations of cronyism, I have to think this is part of an attempt to distance the neocons from the War strategy and from the president.
OTOH, it could just be that he's got too many investment opportunities available to him in post-war Iraq and he'd rather just go for the big money in the private sector.
I'm sure he'll be lobbying for private interests soon enough (like he he's done all along anyway).
Yes, I'm biased. I think he's a dangerous Idealouge who plays chess with people's lives and thinks nothing of profiting from it.

The more I think about it, the more I think Perle is just doing this cuz it will be easier for him to do what he's always done--Lobby for private interests under the cloak of Idealism.
Consider how tightly the Bush administration has circled the wagons around other key figures who are at the center of corporate scandals and allegations of conflicted interests. They've displayed an uncanny ability to keep the heat off and protect their own from scandals that would have toppled most.
I have to think that they knew they could keep him on but simply decided it didn't matter and he could keep doing what he does more easily and with less publicity.
Yeah, he resigned. But Rumsfeld asked him to stay on as "unofficial," and he agreed. So there is symbolic value in it, but little substance to it.
Who cares, He is a left over from the Clinton Adminsitration anyway, I say Rummy should find someone better and who agrees with him. These people who are resigning are mostly Clinton Left overs anyway.

Why Tommy Franks? He's done all he can to bring Rumsfeld around to a war strategy that wasn't completely laughable. If it hadn't been for the professionals in the military, Rumsfeld would be sunk.

Um, Perle has been around since Reagan in one position or another. The job he resigned from was given to him by Rumsfeld.
From what I know, they go way back and agree an lots of things.

Richard Perle, corporate consultant and member of the Pentagon's Defense Advisory Board, told the audience that the Iraq war was going well - that "there are more anti-war demonstrators in San Francisco than Iraqis willing to defend Saddam Hussein." He said that the pro-American coalition was growing, and Saddam Hussein's fall would be "an inspiration" to Iranians.
The man needs a reality check.
Oh, Iranians will be inspired alright. We can be sure of that. I just don't think they'll be inspired to do what Perle dreams of them doing.
