Heck, calling Alan Colmes a spinner is pushing it. I think he lets the DNC do his thinking for him. (Yes, I'm also convinced that Hannity lets the RNC do his thinking.)

Spin means putting the facts in the best light for your side and/or the worst light for your opposition.

With propaganda, you make things up in addition to spinning.

We've discussed these things many times on the MacNN Forums before. I am not retyping what I've typed many times before.

Go to Salon, a liberal political Internet magazine, and search for Moore and Chomsky. You'll find plenty of complaints from its liberal editors about what the two have written and said.

Salon is a joke. From what I was able to read there without paying their $35 membership fee, they had plenty of complaints (many seeming motivated by jealousy), but no hard evidence.

Agreed. 2 years ago they had a good thing going. Now it is just crap. Not that it really matters though, they will probably be out of biz by the end of the year.

Although I agree with what I think you were trying to say, I'm not sure that's the best choice of words, with respect to propagandists.

I'd put it more like this. Spinners report the facts, but manipulate the wording of those facts as suits their particular agenda. Most reporters are spinners, one way or another.

Propagandists, on the other hand, write original material. They also tend to engage in spinning while backing up their materials, but that's not their main focus. Most essayists fall under this category.
