Every day it's the same thing -- variety. I want something different.

How about 'no animal has EVER tried to hurt people unless it THINKS it's attacked first'? Closer to the Truth.

Closer, yes. Some animals see another animal looking at them, or being in view of them as being attacked.

This is usually the case, but as with the original statement, it's not always the case as there definitely are some animals that will attack, kill and eat humans if hungry. Among those animals are crocodiles, which will attack people in the water if they are hungry, and some species of sharks, such as the great white shark, bull whaler shark and tiger shark, which will definitely attack and kill the occasional surfer, swimmer or diver for some extra protein (and it's not always a case of surfers being mistaken for seals). Large pythons and anacondas have been known to attack and kill humans as well if hungry.

These are not all. Spotted Hyenas will also attack and kill humans if hungry as will leopards, tigers and lions. The big cats otherwise mostly avoid people and will usually attack only if they see a human in their way.

Funnily enough the animal that kills more people than any other in africa is the hippopotamus, almost always when people are simply stupid enough to get between it and the water or those who go paddling in canoes in water holes.

So perhaps that saying should be: How about 'no animal has EVER tried to hurt people unless it was hungry.

Moral of the story: Don't feed the animals.
