mediaman, great pics. missing a couple of sides though.... i got the ones above. but ill need one ot the 'non-flat' side and one of the bottom(well a more complete one anyway. also the background looks fine.

PowerBook867>learning curve ? i wish i know...so far im the only person whos used it. . i havent really worked on the interface much, so im guessing it's preety hard.

wataru>it's taken me about a year to get to this stage. it's been dynamically designed, implemented and tested. so i just keep improving it.

ambush> As far as speed goes, im going to try and concentrate all optomization efforts on OpenGL for now. i havent written a C++ program in OSX yet, so i couldnt compare .

Cheers ppl, and thanks for the encouragment.
Just resurrecting this thread to give you guys a little update.
made a lot of changes since i posted those earlier models.

-changed interface treamondously..... it's now...for all intensive purposed... a 1-window-app. did that by encorporating tabs and sheets
-lots of bugs fixed
-encorportaed NSOpenGLcontext (which is good )

and here's a model i made in 30-45 minutes. 30 minutes were spent in creating the texture in photoshop

Apple iPod mini

-i still have to implement the the save and open feature though.... and a heck of a lot of other stuff.

Cheers.

Bloody hell! That truly is amazing. Making the model itself with anything is impressive, but the program behind it (especially as one person and not part of a team), to me, is absolutely fantastic!!

Well done!

(p.s. have I sucked up enough to warrant a free copy when you ship it? )
This program of yours inspired me to learn the foundations of OpenGL over my semester break. I ran across some great tutorials at NeHe.

It's a lot easier than I thought it might be. But, I have only done the basics.. spinning cubes, simple scenes, hmm and enough to make a sprite based 2-D game.

So, thanks for the inspiration.
Black book:
keep sucking (just had to say it )..... ill keep u posted on the status. it will probably be a free program , but im just ironing out the creases. thanks.

Binary:
yup...NeHe is where i found the info i needed i nthe begining as well. it's an awesome site. congrats on the game. u be entering uDevGames/idevGames competition ? some screens would be great . i havent gotten to collision detection and sound yet.

heres a video of the iPod mini model:

Can I draw nudy pics with these?

Heh.. j/k.
That's awesome, dude. I want totally unnecessary 3-D objects on my desktop, please. I always envisioned something like Konfabulator, but which utilized OpenGL and 3-D floating models like that as controllersor the "widgets." Someone needs to make this, and make it easily mod-able. Is that a "3-D view" type in your application? Really impressive. I want to fiddle with it now.
I'm working on it , im working on it. lol

I was flabberghasted when i saw them doing it on 10.2 @WWDC2002. so i descided to start writing this app to make models. but the floating models is just a quick application of the models....im planning on using it to make some games n stuff.

Cheers.
Neat-O!
Added a couple of models to the gallery. The 2 at the bottom are new onew, let me know what you guys think. i havent been working on it as much as i should, cause ive been busy lately.
Hope you like em.

Cheers
