Dell Ultrasharp 2405 FP Wide Flat Panel monitor
My elderly father just received his new monitor. Neither he or I are technically saavy so of course I was unable to connect the monitor to his cpu. More accurately, I was unable to get the monitor to work once I connected it. There were only three cables for us to use (and one of them was the power cable) so really there were only two cables to connect. All we get is a black screen. From the picture directions that came with the monitor, it appears we connected it correctly but, no go. The CPU he's using is a Dell Dimension 8100. Can someone please help us? We need detailed instructions because we're soj inept at this stuff. Many thanks. 
um, you can not read the instruction card that shipped with the monitor, its REALLY simple to follow.
You may need to load the drives on the CD it ships with also. If you were using a MAC, then of course you do not need any drivers!

Not to add irons to the fire but dude this is a Macintosh forum. We certainly don't mind offering help to Dell equipment (such as the LCD screen) when connected to a Mac but if your whole set up is Dell then you should take this concern to Dell's forum. They do have one.

You won't need any drivers off the CD for the monitor to work.
As someone else said, follow the poster that Dell sent you.
You can use either the cable with white ends or the cable with blue ends. The cable with white ends will look better, but not all computers have the right port for it.
