iMacs that go to Black & White? — #3

I always thought it had something to do with the VRAM. If you had too much VRAM you could not take the Mac down to black and white. I think the cutoff was 2 MB. I remember that my…

Macintosh 512+ Oddities... Any ideas? — #10

If I wasn't going to install that fan, then i'd never have opened the case, and i'd never have adjusted the voltages. Simple....I somehow doubt i'll attempt the installation again.…

Awesome find! Yea I got two Pismos (since sold one) that were both DOA but I unplugged the PRAM battery and they work! The 500 mHz's are the best and harder to find, congrats!

iMacs that go to Black & White? — #2

Are you sure? I don't think I've ever seen any PCI based Mac that could go down to 16 colors or B&W. The lowest you can go is 256 greys.

Unfortunately the only reason I opened the case was to install a fan... and in the process of hooking up that fan I blew the fan and the fuses in quite a spectacular way. Click …

Dead Pismo! — #2

Remove the PRAM battery. It may be too dead and will cause it to not boot. Just remove the keyboard and the CD/DVD drive and you will see it on the right hand side.

G4 MDD 1.25Ghz — #10

I don't think "HD 1080" and "G4" can be said in the same sentence; you basically need an Intel Mac to do this sort of stuff. Still, it makes for a wonderful server/general use mac…
