Just added this to my collection Macintosh LC 520     The 68030 is too slow to play Doom but it does run Master of Orion well enough.    

You try another known good working drive? I would hope so.  Otherwise, did you check the DMA lines that bounce between the SCSI IC, GLU, and VIA?

I checked all traces going to/coming from the SCSI IC, they are fine.

Another question I have is around how to burn CDs such that they can be read by the LC 520.   I tried burning one on my Mac Book Pro but I keep getting a disk not initialized error…

I would never ship an LC5XX variant in the same box.  I would remove the CRT and front bezel, ship it separately.

Good finding - no, I'd match the fuse with same.  Note there is a green LED on the underside of the sub that'll tell you if powered
