No, those are the different types of caps (the ones that don't leak often) that are normal on a LC board.

That RAM chip you have there seems to be 16/32 MB. If my assumption is correct, go with System 7.5.5/System 7.1.
Go with 7.1 - it is just as capable as 7.6, and it will run faster and use less RAM. For future reference - there are three common types of capacitor (there are plenty others, though): Radial lead, with a stripe down the side indicating the negative lead, tantalum, the yellow-ish ones, and the round metal can type, the ones that tend to leak. Also, the '030 chip, and all the other main ICs, are on the TOP of the logicboard - 99% of the time this is how its done on ANY printed circuit board. It's labelled clearly on most of the chips what they are.
Many apps require 7.5, and i want to run the newest OS it can run. Even if it is slower than 7.1.

The easiest thing to do is run two System Folders, one with 7.5.5 and one with 7.1, and use System Picker to switch between the folders.
No... 2 system folders would occupy too much space on my puny 80MB ProDrive ELS.

BTW, for those SCSI HDs, try searching at mom-n-pop computer stores which have a used parts bargain bin. I found my 9.1 GB Seagate (that's currently in my Macintosh LC 475) at one for $5.

I spent all of my pocket money on the LC III, the monitor adaptor, and the PC floppy drive, and i am not getting money out of my bank account - that's going for a new MacBook so i can ditch this PC laptop!

The shop where I bought my HD from has a stack of 68-pin and 80-pin 9.1 GB SCSI hard drives for $5 each and I bet you can find them for that much somewhere else as many people are trying to get rid of them in a hurry to upgrade.
and @ the high SCSI hard drive price, here is a good drive at a nice price:

Oh, and i asked my grandma who works at a school to ask the computer guy if they had some spare parts, i made a list of what i want, and it included 50 pin scsi harddrives!

Great plan! Just a note, it would be wise to ask for any SCSI hard drives, as the converters go for chump change on eBay.

it's ram simm has 16 464M4B1 chips. Anyone wanna look at some RAM SIMMS and see if you see any 416M4B1 chips, then tell me how big said ram simm is?

About the OS, if you're going to use the newest OS it can run, get a copy of 8.1. No, wait, NetBSD . You would be SERIOUSLY wasting your time with 7.6, 7.5.5/7.1 is the way to go. I don't believe you mentioned whether you were going to try getting it on the internet, either.
