Misha was pretty cool.

Wlonh, on the other hand, was a duesche.

I thought one of em started MacMinute or something.

That picture of him that went around a while ago was a classic

You need to freshen up on your MacNN history a little.

CaseCom did a wonderful job of summing it all up in another thread:

Quote:
It all went down in May 2001. Monish (owner of MacNN) sold a controlling share of MacNN to the NewsFactor Network (NFN). The forums weren't affected at first, but on the main page they imposed NewsFactor-style navigation, and we instantly hated it. Plus, during the transition the news page went un-updated for about two days, which really hurt because it was the weekend Apple opened the first retail stores.

Anti-NFN posts in the Lounge rose to the point where they brought down the hammer, with a NFN admin locking and deleting threads, banning members and deleting accounts. Then it was open war for about two days, until a truce was declared, the NFN admins stepped back from the forums and things simmered down.

Misha, who ran the forums then, left MacNN for MacMinute. (He has since left MacMinute; I'm not sure what he's doing now.)

In the end, NewsFactor let Monish back out of the deal, on condition that MacNN had to feature links to NFN for 12 months and couldn't badmouth them. Gorgonzola and Co. have run the forums since then.

Ah ... good times.

Hahaha... I remember your feuds with Wlonh. Wasn't he responsible for the whole OCN fiasco? It appears Overclockers Network is no longer in existence. It's a shame, as you can see from the link I posted, that place was full of many well mannered lads.
Just reading back on some of those old threads... is it just me or are most of the old regulars gone?

Discovering that MacNN is an Indian invention (sort of) has been a wonderful surprise. I had assumed it must be Canadian or something..

Even more wonderful (as a Brit) was the discovery that MacNN's SysAdmin is called Nat West.

For that you'll have to look at MacCentral.

That sure is the truth.

That always happens... Back when AOL was Apple Link Personal Edition, it didn't suck. Then all of the regulars left and the new regulars did suck. As a result, AOL became the wasteland of intelligent thought that it is today.
