The New Power Mac Picture Thread

The original Power Mac Picture Thread, over it's four year reign, has grown to 32 pages and is easily the number one thread in the entirity of the Power Mac forum. However, to all things there is an end.

The disadvantage to having a four year old thread that revolves around picture linking is that, well... people don't keep servers forever. It is becoming more and more rare to have all pictures load before page 25 and next to impossible to find any that will load the further you go back towards page 1. All this does is cause annoying load hangs.

So, welcome to 'The New Power Mac Picture Thread'. I've taken the liberty of making this itteration of the Power Mac Picture Thread a sticky, so that it resides at the top of the forum listing.

For those of you stumbling across this thread who weren't around for the original 32 pager and would like to peek around it, you can find it here.

Now, on with the show:
*sniff* the Powermac picture thread is one of the things that originally brought me here, but long live the new picture thread!

Might as well drop a new pic to start too

Dual 2Ghz w/ 23" This pic was taken in my old office...

Gorgeous.

new pic for a new thread.
A crappy picture of a lousy setup.

DP 1.8ghz G5, Samsung 172T DVI LCD, Logitech Z-2300 speakers.
Voila! Not as pretty as most pics, but a good, working setup for me.

Ok, here's my revised setup with 30" Cinema.

Specs are G5 1.6, 2gb ram, two 160gb drives, Geforce 6800 GT DDL
20gb iPod, 1gb iPod shuffle, Treo 600, Canopus ADVC-100, and a few other things
Please excuse the ugly rug! (it's only temporary)
My contribution...
(sorry 'bout the crappy desk & messy office - just moved and things are still mostly still in boxes).

Equipment:
Windtunnel dual 2.5GHz G5
2.5GB RAM
300GB Maxtor 16MB cache SATA HD
74GB Raptor 10,000RPM SATA HD

AirPort Extreme
Dell 20" LCD (2001FP) x 2
Apple BT keyboard
Logitech MX700 mouse
Logitech Z-560 speakers

I see a huge dead pixel cluster in your 30-incher around the top-left corner!!!

you're so totally pwn3d!~~!!!~!
My newly aquired Power Mac G4 Cube with 15" Display and Soundsticks/iSub. I got the cube from a friend in exchange for an Aopen XC18 Cube (a PC). I found the display through a classified ad. It had a broken back leg, but this was easily fixed. The speakers are from ebay and the keyboard will be exchanged for a pro keyboard soon. This is more of an "I build my own computer museum" project.

Cube specs: G4 450MHz, 1GB SDRAM, 80GB HDD, DVD-ROM, AirPort. A very nice system, although I think (oh, blasphemy ;-) my mini + 20" + JBL Creatures is more elegant (and more powerful, of course). The acrylic gives the whole ensemble a very 1970's touch.
These are ridiculously nice setups. I think it's time for a little MacNN socialist revolution & computer-wealth redistribution.

(sulks back to his bought-used Pbook)
Sure why not,...here's a re-post

Hanul, that's an extremely beautiful looking retro setup. It's not a G5, but damn - very nice.

Personally I am expecting a third hand used Sawtooth next week for mainly server tasks. It'll not be in the class of a Cube visually speaking, but probably a useful stationary sidekick for my PB (I hope). Perhaps I should post a picture if the machine survive the transport. It'll be my first PM.

Heh, my Sawtooth will be 5 years old on March 22, so don't come here! What you need to do is redistribute the wealth from your boss to your pocket.

New pic to come soon.
LOL.. g4.. retro.. I'd hate to hear what you think of Pentium MMX or the like..
.... ^^

And then the rest..

..PB rev. C and a Sawtooth.
Fixenated (no more limp bizkit poster), gotta say your setup looks twenty times better now.

LoL. It's a decorative poster but I admit my lack of style. Thanks.
Sniffer, what kind of mouse is that? From MS?

Nice one with the whales btw.

Hilsen fra Sveits!
It's an old trusty IntelliMouse® Explorer that have served me well in many years. You can even tell it's old because the "Microsoft" logo is teared so far down it only has three letters left; "Mic". (I like it even better now.)

Also in the picture (besides that CRT), a FW backup drive and a book that have the title "Algorithmics" on it. Nice to chew on when I am really bored. Impressive signature BTW.

a little bit dark..but this setup won't last long..since I'm moving out from the dorm for good.
I love this thread.

I finally got to making a new QuickTime VR of my current computer setup. I've placed it on-line here:

http://www.bytecellar.com/qtvr.html

Have a look. 30 shots taken with an Apple QuickTake 200 (vintage in its own right!) were used and stitched together w/ Apple's QTVR Studio v1.0. Enjoy.

Other shots of this setup can be found (at the bottom of):

http://www.blakespot.com/list

...of those pics, my G5 setup pic is:

Let me know what you think of the QuickTime VR (link above). Cheers!
