I just pre-ordered with the Student Discount. $69.00 WOOT!
Finally!
Ordered online one minute ago.

I hope I'll not slip into the backlog crowd....
"If you purchased a new Mac on or after April 12 that didn’t include Tiger, you can upgrade for just the cost of the media."

Er, that would be today then...

Got my G5 just before the end of last month (financial year) but miss out.

Never mind... Glad it's coming soon!
WOHOOO I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
Already ordered and on the list. May wait a day or three once it comes just to see what crops up among others.
I guess we're stuck with "Bonjour" as the Rendezvous replacement. Oh well....
Ordered my Mini about 3 weeks ago..... Ohh well I'm happy with 10.3
Requirements same as Panther, except now you need minimum of 256Mb RAM and any PowerBook G3 is unsupported.
iMac 233/266/333s--without FW don't make the cut.

ETA: iBooks w/o FW don't either.
No new desktop pattern?
I thought Tiger did have a new DTP.

Tiger comes with dozens of new desktop pictures, including new Aqua and graphite ones. The aqua and graphite don't look too much different from Panther, though.
I ordered mine. I'll install the day it comes. Have been lucky so far
got in for 73.49 after tax.

w00t.

this is the first OS i've ever paid for. i would never consider giving microsoft 70 bucks, but ill scream with glee over giving it to apple.

what is wrong with me.
Ordered.
As expected, there is no mention of a DVD drive requirement.

The requirements for multi-user video iChat are pretty beefy though.

Video conferencing requires a compatible FireWire DV camera or web camera and broadband Internet access. One-to-one video conferencing requires a G5, G4, or 600MHz or faster G3 processor and 100-Kbps or faster broadband access.

Initiating a multiway video conference requires a G5 or dual 1GHz or faster G4 processor and 384-Kbps or faster broadband access. Participating in a multiway video conference and initiating a 6-person multiway audio conference both require a G5, 1GHz G4, dual 800MHz or faster G4 processor, and 100-Kbps or faster broadband access.
Heh.. My Student ADC ends the 10th of may. There is still hope.

They're the same requirements for 1-1 chats, but understandably beefy for hosting multiple chats - you can still participate with a lower specced machine.
The family pack (5 machine license) is not available for pre-order?

I couldn't find it anyway....

EDIT::The family pack is apparently not available to education customers, which is why I didn't see it at the store.

You just need to go through a little more work if you want the CD's...

Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95.

Download the order form
Ordered with the EDU discount. I missed the cutoff by 5 lousy days (bought PB on Friday the 8th)...

Fully expected this to happen, and I am not that bothered by it. The time I got to spend this weekend learing about Panther was worth the $60.

I still think you were crazy for ordering on Friday.

Search for Tiger Family Pack in the store search. It's the first result
Or, look at the very top left of the main Apple Store page, under "Tiger Center".
I noticed when I ordered that it said in the shipping info that it should "arrive by the 29th". Does this mean that I would get it then, and it would actually ship before that?

Yep. (of course YMMV!)
