Or, am I completely missing somethign about how the Arabic language is written and the swirls of the ice cream in the logo ARE the Arabic term for Allah. While I see a similarity--only at first glance--I don't see any sort of equivalence. This is not like the Nike shoe issue from a few years back where the Air logo on the sneakers WAS formed just like the Arabic character/term for "Allah". That was obvious.

Jihad is a complex term. I have my own personal Jihad's. Several of them each day. Some are against my own "devils" like anger, frustration, etc etc. Some are against injustices. Jihad isn't what OBL and the Western media has painted it as.

So the term in the right-hand picture above is read as "Allah" regardless of the orientation of the curl of the vertical lines? Interesting! I knew Arabic was a right-to-left language I didn't know it was so orthographically flexible.

So, what part of the assemblage of lines and swirls/curls must be fixed and what part can be modified and have the character/term still mean "Allah"? Do you have other examples of the term written with different orthographic styles? That would be interesting to see.

Hey, we're not in Saudi any more. If I want to go flush a koran down the toilet, it's my right to. If I want to tell you about my flushing a koran down the toilet, it's my right to. A good example of how differently Allah is written is to just to a google image search for "arabic allah". There you'll see how differently it is written. The direction "swirls" themselves are not that important.

It's difficult to explain with words as I'm not by any means an expert in Arabic calligraphy although I know a fair bit about it. A few examples would be the following.

Those are some basic styles for writing "Allah". There are much more complex calligraphy though which resembles abstract art more than writing until you've started to become used to the regular Arabic writing.
