I'm still using 8.6 and maybe I'll just stick with it forever. I haven't had a crash in 4 months and I don't want to take a chance on jinxing that. 8.6 is the most stable I think I have ever had. I think I'll wait 'til X is out for a while to see how it works.

I might have a look at the PB, but I'll definately get OS X 1.0
Gotta support the mac platform.
B - I'll let you guys suck it and see before I even touch the thing - maybe as short as 2 weeks after it's release

Absolutely A. and when I get it, I will probably be too excited to even take the time to create a second partition of my HD, and will install the PB without any backups and then when it crashes I will lose all of my stuff and then I will cry.

sound like a plan?
Make me an - E

While I'm running 0S O.0.4 on this iMac and love it - this is for the net and fun.

My other two Macs are for serious stuff and the grandchildren - one for each, that is. Both of those are running 8.1 which does everything I ask of it and is capable of a lot I don't ask or don't know how to do.

I'm getting off this treadmill of new OS + new peripherals + new 3rd party software + new patches/updates/problems etc.

I am apprehensive about Apple's good health if, as I suspect, a lot of users sit back and take a pass on OS X, but I fear that may be the case.

I've certainly supported Apple through many thousands of dollars, but now I'm going to sit back and return to getting things done other than solving computer problems/configurations/ etc.

Who knows - I may be so attracted by X when it finally is out that I will succumb - but I'm certainly going to try to discipline myself to
resist the treadmill.

Ok, I have just installed OS X DP4 and MAN DOES IT SUCK!
I'm just wondering, how many of you have actually used it?
If you haven't, you're in for an unpleasant surprise... and don't gimme this crap about how its only a DP, are they gonna change the whole damn thing by 1.0? NO!
Damn Apple, this thing really stinks...
The speed is terrible (though that will be fixed by 1.0), it is so un Mac like its ridiculous...
And whats with Aqua? Man that is crap - it slows the thing down like a parachute on a Drag... Apple have, yet again, put prettiness over performance.
Hell, I think I'd rather use Win 95 (shock horror!!!) - almost.
Damn does that filing system suck... how many friggin' Applications folders do I have?!?
Jeez... sorry but I had to say all this...
So back to the point, how many of you have actually used it?
BTW, feel free to flame away at this post (no offence will be taken) - please re assure me that the final thing will be MUCH better!
There was something else I was gonna ask too, but can't remember - if I do remember, I'll post back.

Havent used it yet. One question: Is it alwayas gonna be that queer looking?! I dont want a gay prismatic yuppie pastel OS. I like my 8.6 look. Can you "skin" it? And make it behave like OS 8.6? Or do we have to have those weird "drawers" or whatever?

D for me.

I still use 8.1 with few irritations. My philosophy is to take the free upgrades, then ignore the next major release. (8.5 isn't free yet, is it?) It changes so quickly, and I'm not eager to spend the $ that often, even though I could, not to mention the time investment. Changing the OS every 2 years or so is enough for me. OS X appears to be a major step forward, so I'll get X.1 or whatever they call it. From everything I've read, I'm glad I skipped 9.

I will get the Beta (How much is it?). but maybe not. I will be forced to dump my Printer, Palm III, and GV 33.6 Modem.

and I am dead for cash for years!
