Baraka

Baraka is a fan-made scenario for Bungie's Marathon 2: Durandal, distributed via Info-Mac as a BinHex package by Michael E. Gaines. The release on the archive is an explicit pre-release: one solo map and two net maps, advertised as a preview of a planned final cut of ten solo and eight net maps. It is a third-party map/story add-on, not a standalone game.

Relationship to Marathon 2

Baraka requires a working installation of Marathon 2: Durandal to play; it ships only the scenario data (maps, terminals, chapter screens) consumed by the Marathon 2 engine. The included note from the author frames the scenario as a continuation of the Marathon 2 storyline with returning characters - what the upload calls "old friends."

Contents of the pre-release

According to the author's own description in the BinHex header, the upload contains one playable single-player map plus two net (multiplayer) maps, with working terminals and chapter screens already in place. The README states an intent to expand to a full ten-mission solo campaign and eight net maps before final release.

Provenance and caveats

The only substantive source surviving for this entry is the BinHex header on the Info-Mac mirror; Macintosh Garden currently has no dedicated page for it. No release year, version number, or final-release confirmation is recorded in the package, so anything beyond what the author wrote in the upload itself would be speculation.
