Demo of Blood Bath at Red Falls, specifically the BB Sweepstakes edition: a 1998 promotional build of UnderWorld Software's full-motion-video light-gun shooter that swapped in a different sample level and a mail-in entry form for a publisher sweepstakes. As in the retail game, you gun down digitized live-action terrorists while sparing the hostages.
Source game
Blood Bath at Red Falls is a 1995 first-person shooting-gallery title by UnderWorld Software, later picked up for re-release by American Laser Games and Midas Interactive. Real video footage of actors plays back on each screen; you click to fire, and accuracy and reaction time drive your score.
What the Sweepstakes build adds
The Sweepstakes demo swaps in a level not included in the freely circulated Graveyard demo, and embeds an entry-form screen for UnderWorld's 1998 mail-in promotion. Players who completed the level could submit a score-and-address card for a chance at prizes. Three weapons are available, and the demo locks save and continue features.
Controls and gameplay
Mouse aim and click to fire. Reloads happen automatically between bursts. Hit a hostage and you lose health and points; clean shots on terrorists chain into bonus multipliers. The demo runs in a fixed window at 256 colors for video playback performance.
System requirements
Fat-binary for 68k and PowerPC. Runs under System 7.x through Mac OS 9; classicmacdemos.com confirms successful play under 8.6 and 9.0.4, and emulation under SheepShaver and Basilisk II works. Roughly 2.8 MB compressed; needs the display set to 256 colors before launch.
