About

Tac Ops Print Maps is a companion utility for TacOps, the modern tactical wargame originally written by Major I.L. Holdridge, USMC (ret) and later published by Battlefront.com. It addresses a long-running gripe in the TacOps community: getting a usable paper copy of a scenario map for note-taking and planning away from the screen.

The Problem It Solves

TacOps maps are larger than a single screen, so capturing them by hand requires stitching many screenshots together. The Print Maps helper is built to produce printable map output without that manual process.

Where It Fits

The utility is intended to be used alongside an installed copy of TacOps for Macintosh, drawing on the game's own map data so scenario terrain matches what the player sees in-game.

Audience

Serious TacOps players often prepare orders on paper, marking unit positions, fire plans, and phase lines. Print Maps is aimed at that audience rather than the casual player.

Running Today

It runs in the same Mac environment as the era-appropriate TacOps build it accompanies, typically under SheepShaver with the game installed and a printer or PDF print pipeline configured in the emulated OS.
