Doom 2 Sound Add Ons is a small pack of replacement sound effects for the Macintosh release of Doom II, contributed by Alastair Montgomery. The collection swaps in new clips for in-game audio with the stated goal of livening up single-player runs and LAN deathmatches.
What it is
The archive bundles a set of replacement audio clips intended to drop into MacDoom2. The author frames the pack as a fun upgrade for solo play and especially for deathmatching, where the new effects keep familiar sessions feeling fresh.
Installation
The pack is distributed as a single Info-Mac BinHex file, doom-2-sound-add-ons.hqx, in the game/com category. After unstuffing the archive, the included sounds are placed into a working Doom II install on a Mac so the game picks them up at launch.
Requirements
You need a working copy of the Mac port of Doom II. The original Doom II for Macintosh shipped in 1995 and runs under classic Mac OS via the id Tech 1 engine, so this add-on targets that environment rather than any modern source port.
Author
Credited to Alastair Montgomery (Alastair@DeathsDoor.com in the original BinHex header). The pack is a community contribution, distributed alongside other Mac Doom community add-ons in the Info-Mac game/com tree.
