Foggywood Hijinx is a 1998 work of interactive fiction by Ivan Cockrum, built on the TADS engine and packaged for the classic Mac. Your beloved Uncle Foggy, a wacky prankster, has died, and the question is who inherits his estate and the pending patents on his zany inventions: you and your sister Winnie, or your snobbish Barnevelder relatives.
Premise
The setup is a comic family inheritance dispute, with the player cast against the Barnevelders to lay claim to Uncle Foggy's house and his half-finished gag patents. Expect prankster sensibilities rather than dungeon crawls.
TADS Text Adventure
The game is a parser-driven text adventure compiled with TADS, the same engine behind a long catalogue of late-1990s independent IF. The Mac release ships as a TADS interpreter wrapped around the story file.
Compatibility
The download targets System 7 and Mac OS 9, runs on 68k or PowerPC machines, and works under SheepShaver for modern systems.
