Gmdemo is a demo build of GameMaker, Al Staffieri Jr.'s card-based adventure authoring system for the classic Mac. The full tool lets users assemble graphics, buttons, and text into point-and-click games without writing code, while offering a built-in scripting language for those who want deeper control over game logic.
What GameMaker is
An easy-to-use card-based development system for building adventure games with graphics, buttons, and text. Finished projects can be compiled into standalone Mac applications with no royalty fees.
Demo limits
Demo builds of GameMaker were distributed widely on Info-Mac and shareware CDs to let prospective authors try the editor before registering the full version.
Author
GameMaker was developed by Al Staffieri Jr. and went through many releases through the 1990s, from early 0.9x previews up through 3.9.x.
Heritage
It sits alongside HyperCard, SuperCard, and World Builder in the lineage of Mac-native authoring tools that put adventure-game creation in hobbyist hands.
