Hornet Log (full title "Hornet Pilot's Logbook") is a thank-you-ware companion utility for Graphic Simulations' F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 flight simulator on the Macintosh, written by Charlie Woods (CharlieFSU) of VisionHeart Interactive. It is not the game itself but an external pilot's logbook designed to make Hornet 3.0 feel like a long-running squadron tour rather than one-off sorties.
Mission records and notes
The core of the Logbook is a database of the missions you have flown in Hornet 3.0. Each entry holds custom mission notes, weapons loadouts, time-on-target, and tactical observations. The data-entry view uses typing shortcuts so common loadout strings and recurring fields can be entered quickly between sorties.
Kuwait Theatre reference
A supplemental section profiles the aircraft active in the Hornet 3.0 Kuwait Theatre, doubling as a quick-reference card while you're planning a flight. It rounds out the Logbook into a small but cohesive squadron-pilot toolkit oriented at Hornet 3.0's signature campaign.
Mission Photo Album
A second supplement is the Mission Photo Album, holding placeholder PICTs for all 28 Hornet 3.0 missions. The slots are user-customizable: pilots are encouraged to drop in their own 160x120 screen-grabs from in-cockpit moments to build out a personal photo record of their tour.
Distribution and license
Hornet Log is preserved on Info-Mac as hornet-log.hqx (about 3.9 MB BinHex) and is explicitly thank-you-ware: free to distribute, with the author asking only for an email, a favorite mission PICT, a tactics tip, or a kind word forwarded to Graphic Simulations.
This file is part of the MacTrove archive. See the Thank You page for the upstream mirrors we rely on. It is BinHex encoded — use The Unarchiver to decode it.
