Invasion of the Goofy Aliens 1.0.0 is a 1998 SuperCard-based comedy shooter by Gooey Orbit Software, distributed through Info-Mac by jzack@suffolk.lib.ny.us. After friendly-looking aliens land on Earth and overstay their welcome -- raiding refrigerators, overfilling bathtubs, and trashing the house playing Twister -- you snap and grab a pea shooter to drive them off.
Premise
The setup is pure goof: "After the aliens landed, everybody thought it was pretty neat. But after a while, it soon became clear that there was something wrong...very wrong." The aliens treat Earth as a giant playground, and the player, after days of household abuse, finally retaliates with the most underwhelming weapon imaginable.
Gameplay
It is a casual shooter -- you point your pea shooter at the goofy invaders and chase them off the planet, level by level. The humor and SuperCard-driven art carry the experience more than the mechanics; this is firmly a late-1990s hobby-shareware comedy title rather than an arcade-grade shoot-'em-up.
System requirements
Runs on any grayscale or 256-color Mac with 5 MB of RAM under System 6.0.4 or later. Macintosh Garden notes 68k/PPC compatibility through Mac OS 9 and confirms emulation under SheepShaver. Two minor revisions exist: 1.0.0 and 1.0.1.
Disambiguation
This is one of two unrelated Mac titles called "Invasion Aliens" in the archive; this entry is the Gooey Orbit / Foltz-circle pea-shooter comedy, distinct from the other similarly-named release catalogued separately.
