Pod Armory Map is a player-made reference map of the Armory level from Bungie's 1993 first-person adventure Pathways into Darkness. Contributed to Info-Mac in March 1995 by Lucas Meyer, the file is a single-screen overview that helps players navigate one of the trickier early dungeon floors of the game without resorting to trial and error.
About Pathways into Darkness
Pathways into Darkness was Bungie's first 3D first-person title, predating Marathon. The player descends through a series of pyramid levels populated by Lovecraftian creatures, mixing real-time combat with inventory puzzles, NPC dialog and resource management. The Armory is one of several named sub-areas in the descent.
What the Map Provides
The map charts room layout, doorways, and notable item or encounter locations on the Armory level. Like other community-made PoD maps from the era, it was distributed as a small companion download for players who wanted a paper-style reference next to the keyboard rather than in-game annotations.
Distribution
The file was uploaded to Info-Mac as pod-armory-map.hqx on 4 March 1995 by Lucas Meyer (lucasm@csn.org). A companion file, pod-hell-palace-map.hqx, covers a later area of the same game.
Preservation Notes
The map is a fan artifact rather than a Bungie release, and survives only through Info-Mac and its mirrors. It is most useful when paired with an installed copy of Pathways into Darkness, which Bungie later released as freeware.
