Nibbles is a Macintosh port of the classic snake arcade game, in which the player guides an ever-growing serpent around the play field, eating items to score and trying to avoid colliding with the walls or with the snake's own tail. The Mac release by Evan Mallory revisits the formula familiar from countless terminal and DOS versions.
Gameplay
You steer the snake with the keyboard, picking up food that lengthens the body. As the snake grows, the available open space shrinks, raising the difficulty until a single misstep ends the run.
Level editor
In addition to the game itself, the package includes a level editor, allowing players to design and save their own custom layouts rather than being limited to the built-in boards.
Distribution
Nibbles 1.0 was released through the Info-Mac archives as a small downloadable package suited to Classic Mac OS systems of the era.
