Mad Breaker (stylised MadBreaker) is a 1997 Classic Mac take on the Breakout formula by Marc Honnorat, distributed via Chamane eMedia. Billed by its author as "just another Breakout game," it brings paddle-and-ball brick smashing to System 7-era Macs in a compact shareware package.
Gameplay
Steer the paddle along the bottom of the screen, bounce the ball into the wall of bricks above, and clear each layout to advance. The familiar Breakout loop of angle control, ricochets, and timing is the whole pitch.
Author and publisher
The game is credited to Marc Honnorat and was published through Chamane eMedia, a small French outfit that distributed several mid-1990s Mac shareware titles.
System requirements
Mad Breaker targets System 7.0 through 7.6 and runs comfortably on the 68K and early PowerPC machines of its era. Modern users typically launch it via Basilisk II or a similar emulator.
Where it fits
It is a small, focused entry in the long line of Mac Breakout clones, sitting alongside titles like Breakout Plus and Brick Bash as a one-evening curiosity rather than a polished commercial release.
