Star Fighters is a top-down one-on-one space combat game by Laurie Murphy (rmurphy@ruralnet.net.au), published by Foxchange Software. The Info-Mac archive preserves version 1.4.1; the Macintosh Garden listing additionally records v1.7 (2000) and the original v1.01 (1996).
One-on-One Combat
The author's release notes describe the premise simply: "Take control of one of six (or more with cheats) star ships. Battle each of the others in one on one combat. But be careful of the space station."
Ship Roster
Six star ships are selectable in the standard game, with additional ships unlockable via cheats. Each match pits the player against another of the ships in a duel.
Hazards
A space station in the arena acts as an environmental hazard that pilots must avoid while maneuvering for shots, adding a positional element beyond the direct ship-to-ship duel.
Platform
Macintosh Garden lists Star Fighters as a 68k action title compatible with System 7.0 through 7.6 and Mac OS 9, with SheepShaver emulation noted as a working option.
