Kevs Maelstrom Sounds v1.0 is a sound replacement pack for Ambrosia Software's asteroids-style shooter Maelstrom, assembled and submitted by Kevin M. Dougherty (kdough at shhs1.ccsd.k12.co.us) on 16 January 1995. It targets Maelstrom v1.4.1 specifically and swaps in a set of deliberately wacky effects.
What's in the Pack
The collection bundles sounds the author gathered from various sources alongside a few he created himself, all sized and named to drop into Maelstrom v1.4.1 in place of the stock effects. The author's own description simply calls them "some fun sounds...completely wacky too!!"
Compatibility
The pack is tied to Maelstrom 1.4.1's sound resource layout. Later Maelstrom releases reorganised assets and may not pick the replacements up cleanly without manual reinstallation.
Installation
The included sounds are installed by replacing the matching resources inside the Maelstrom application or its sound file, the same workflow as other contemporary Maelstrom mods circulated on Info-Mac.
