Sheepshead 1.03 is a demo build of Uwe Rasche's Classic Mac adaptation of the trick-taking card game Sheepshead, submitted to the Info-Mac archive by Dr. John W. Sell of The College of Wooster. This release supersedes Sheepshead 1.01, refining the AI play routines and squashing several outstanding bugs.
The game
Sheepshead is a four-handed trick-taking card game with a long pedigree, played by millions across the United States and Germany. Rasche's Mac version models the four-player table digitally so a solo player can match wits against three computer opponents.
Regional rule sets
The 1.03 build supports both popular American and German option sets, letting players configure the deck, scoring, and partner-call rules to match the variant they grew up with.
Improved play routines
Compared to the earlier 1.01 release, this version reworks the AI's bidding and card-play logic and addresses a small batch of reported defects, making the demo a noticeably stronger sparring partner.
Distribution context
The file is the demo, not the registered shareware release, and was uploaded on behalf of the original author for distribution through the Info-Mac archive. Maintainers were asked to drop it in place of the older 1.01 demo.
