Gynk's Big Trouble, also titled Aspirin 3: A Big Trouble For Gynk, is the third installment in Sebastian Brytting's Aspirin top-down arcade series, released in 2001 as $2 shareware. Doctor X has returned bent on revenge, and Gynk must hunt him down and shove him into the legendary neverending hole in the ground.
Plot setup
The cover line on the package is short and direct: "Gynk made a great mistake when he let Doctor X go. Doctor X has now returned, with nothing but revenge on his mind! Gynk will have to find him, and throw him into the legendary neverending hole in the ground!" The pitch sells itself as a punchline to the previous two Aspirin entries rather than a stand-alone story.
Aspirin series context
Macintosh Garden lists Gynk's Big Trouble as the third game in the Aspirin series and classifies it as Arcade with a top-down perspective. Author Sebastian Brytting (zorkar@yahoo.com) self-published all three Aspirin entries as low-cost shareware aimed at hobbyists running Performa-class hardware in the early 2000s.
System requirements
The BinHex header in the Info-Mac upload spells out compatibility plainly: "It works with computer models from Performa 6300 and up, and also (with slight problems though) on earlier computers." The shareware fee is just $2 - a deliberately small ask aimed at registration rather than revenue.
