Mahjong is a classic Macintosh implementation of the venerable tile-matching solitaire variant of the Chinese game, in which the player removes pairs of identical tiles from a stacked layout to clear the board. Like most Mac shareware mahjong titles of the era, it pairs traditional tile artwork with a clean Platinum-style interface.
Gameplay
The board begins with a multi-layer arrangement of tiles in a turtle, dragon or pyramid pattern. The player clicks any two free, matching tiles to remove them, working layer by layer until the board is cleared or no further moves remain.
Tiles and Layouts
Standard suits, honors and seasonal tiles follow Mahjong solitaire convention, with the layout providing the puzzle rather than the rules of full four-player Mahjong.
Compatibility
The title is distributed for classic Mac OS and runs comfortably on 68k and early PowerPC machines, including in Mini vMac, Basilisk II and SheepShaver emulation.
Catalog Notes
The brief title makes this entry easy to confuse with other Mahjong releases on the archive; consult the file listing inside the download for the original author and version metadata.
