Caribbean Stud Poker 1.0 is a freeware Mac program by Tom Rockwell that simulates the popular casino game of the same name. It comes complete with the jackpot side bet, and the read-me explains the full rules so newcomers can learn without prior stud poker experience.
The casino game, simulated
Caribbean Stud is a player-versus-dealer poker variant played at casinos worldwide. The program reproduces the standard flow: place an ante, look at your hand, decide whether to fold or raise against the dealer's hidden cards, and settle the round.
Jackpot feature
The optional progressive jackpot side bet, a defining element of the real table game, is included. Players can wager on the side pool for a chance at large payouts when dealt strong hands such as a flush or better.
Easy to learn
The author notes that even players unfamiliar with stud poker should pick up Caribbean Stud quickly. Rules are fully explained in the bundled read-me file, making the program a low-friction way to practice the game before sitting at a real table.
Author's first project
Rockwell describes this as his first attempt at game programming, released as freeware. The program is not perfect, in his own words, but everything works and the game is fully playable end to end.
