20/WON v1.2 is a full-featured blackjack training system for the Classic Mac, distributed as a demo version with some functionality removed from the paid release. Released by David Hirsh of Pittsburgh in September 1994, it ran on machines from the Macintosh Plus through PowerPC emulation, under System 6.0.8 to 7.5.
What it does
20/WON is pitched as a training tool rather than a casino simulator. The full version is intended to teach and drill blackjack play, with the demo build offered free so players can evaluate the interface before paying the registration fee for the complete program and printed user manual.
System requirements
According to the author, 20/WON ran on any Mac from the Plus to the PowerMac (in 68k emulation mode), under System 6.0.8 through System 7.5. No hard drive was required, and the graphics were tuned for the small built-in screens of compact Macs.
Distribution
The demo was released as shareware-style promotion for the $50 registered version, which included the full feature set and a user manual. Contact for the registered build went to dshirsh@telerama.lm.com.
