Cedlecca Briscola is the English release of Fabio Lecca's traditional Italian card game Briscola, also known as 'Brisk' in other countries. Published from the dsi.uniroma1.it domain in Rome, it brings the centuries-old four-player trick-taking pastime to the classic Mac with multiple regional Italian deck designs.
About the game
Briscola is one of Italy's most popular card games, played with the 40-card Italian deck. The author, Fabio Lecca (cedlecca@kagi.com), distributed the game as shareware through Kagi, with a separate Italian-language edition shipped alongside this English version.
Italian deck designs
Version 1.1 expands the deck library to include several traditional regional patterns: Napoletane, Piacentine, Sarde, and Trevisane. Each set carries its own historical artwork for the four Italian suits (cups, coins, swords, and clubs).
Sibling release
An Italian-localised companion build (cedlecca-briscola-11-it) ships the same code with Italian menus and dialog text. Both editions share a single binary lineage and the same author contact.
Distribution
The game was uploaded to the Info-Mac archive in the late 1990s and remains preserved there as cedlecca-briscola-11.hqx, packaged in BinHex 4.0 for Classic Mac OS.
