Hearts Otto Dix is an opponent pack for Freeverse Software's shareware classic Hearts Deluxe, themed around the German painter Otto Dix. Once installed it lets you play the classic card game Hearts against German Painters, layering art-historical portraiture over Freeverse's already personality-driven card AI.
An add-on, not a standalone
The package requires the underlying shareware game Hearts Deluxe, which Freeverse distributed widely. The upload notes point would-be players at www.freeverse.com or pretty much anywhere fine shareware is found - typical Freeverse phrasing of the era.
Freeverse's character-pack culture
Hearts Deluxe and its companion Spades Deluxe were known for their swappable opponent packs, which let users replace the default cast with everything from celebrities to fine-art subjects. The Otto Dix pack fits squarely into that tradition of fan-made and Freeverse-blessed character sets.
This release
The Info-Mac upload notes call out two changes since the previous version: a more intelligent naming scheme and updated contact information for the pack's maintainer.
