Sketchorama is an online drawing and guessing game for Mac OS X in which players around the world take turns sketching a secret word while everyone else races to guess it. Released by viktor@spogg.com as a 1.0 build, it brings a Pictionary-style party game to the early-2000s Mac as a connected, score-driven multiplayer experience.
How a round works
One player is handed the pencil and a secret word; the rest watch the drawing appear in real time and try to call out the answer first. Correct guesses raise the player's score and ranking, and turns rotate so everyone gets a chance to draw and to guess.
Free trial and membership
The game is free to play for the first month. After that, free accounts are limited to one hour of play per day; paying members of www.spogg.com get unrestricted access. Membership was priced at $4 per month at the time of the 1.0 release.
System requirements
Sketchorama 1.0 requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later and an active internet connection, since gameplay depends on the spogg.com matchmaking and drawing servers. It is one of the earlier Info-Mac entries aimed squarely at OS X rather than classic Mac OS.
Distribution
The build was distributed through Info-Mac as sketchorama-10.hqx. The game's home page lived at http://macgames.spogg.com, and submissions and support came directly from the author at viktor@spogg.com.
