Word Scramble 1.1.1 HC is the HyperCard edition of a small Mac word puzzle, sibling to the standalone Word Scramble application. Built as a HyperCard stack, it runs inside HyperCard or the HyperCard Player and uses the stack scripting language for its scrambling and scoring logic.
HyperCard as a game platform
HyperCard, bundled with the Mac from 1987 onward, became one of the most popular hobbyist game platforms of the era. Its card-and-script model let authors ship complete puzzle and trivia games as a single stack file that anyone with HyperCard could open.
How the scramble works
The stack presents a jumbled word and asks the player to type or click letters to recover the original. Scoring and word lists are managed by HyperTalk handlers inside the stack, which can be browsed and modified by anyone with the authoring environment.
HC vs. the standalone build
The HC suffix marks this as the HyperCard stack version, distinct from the compiled standalone build of Word Scramble. Both share gameplay; the stack is easier to inspect and tweak but requires a HyperCard host.
