HangMan 1.4.1 is a Macintosh implementation of the classic word-guessing game Hangman, written by Ola Montan and released in August 1994. The program's distinguishing feature is its multilingual voice: in version 1.4 it can speak its prompts in Swedish, Spanish, Irish, and English, with hooks for additional languages to be added.
Gameplay
The computer picks a hidden word and the player guesses one letter at a time. Each wrong letter draws another piece of the doomed stick figure; guess the word before the gallows is complete to win.
Multilingual Speech
HangMan was unusual for a small Mac shareware title in shipping with synthesized speech in four languages, leaning on the Mac Speech Manager to read out letters and feedback so it could double as a language-learning aid.
