Zebi is a small HyperCard game written by Simon Hayes (sima@well.sf.ca.us) and uploaded to Info-Mac in September 1994. Like many HyperCard titles of its era, it ships as a stand-alone HyperCard stack that runs under HyperCard or the free HyperCard Player on any Classic Mac with a B/W or color display.
HyperCard as a game platform
By 1994, HyperCard had become a popular delivery vehicle for one-person hobby games: scripts in HyperTalk drove buttons, fields, and bitmap cards to produce everything from adventures to puzzlers. Zebi belongs to that tradition.
Distribution
The author submitted the stack directly via email to the Info-Mac moderators on 6 September 1994, with the brief note: "Hi. Hope I'm getting this right. Enclosed should be my hypercard game ZEBI." It was filed under game/word/ in the Info-Mac archive.
Preservation note
Beyond the upload header there is no surviving documentation, marketing, or Macintosh Garden entry for Zebi — its preservation here, as a single .hqx in the Info-Mac mirror, is essentially the entire public record of the game.
