Mancala Sounds is a small companion download for Jamie Kowalski's 1989 Macintosh shareware version of Mancala, the ancient pit-and-pebble strategy game played on a board of twelve small pits and two larger home stores. The package supplies replacement sound resources that the main Mancala application loads at runtime.
What it adds
The download swaps in alternative click, capture, and end-of-turn sounds for the base game, giving the spare black-and-white interface a livelier feel without altering rules or AI behavior.
Relation to Mancala
This is a sound mod, not a standalone title. It requires a working install of Kowalski's Mancala, which presents the standard two-player pit layout where stones are sown counter-clockwise and captured into the home pit at each end of the board.
System requirements
Aimed at the same era as the host game: a black-and-white or color classic Mac running System 6 or early System 7, with the Sound Manager available so the replacement snd resources can play.
Installation
The archive is distributed in the typical late-1980s Mac shareware format and is dropped alongside the Mancala application so it picks up the new resources on next launch.
