Ouvrez Le Ban 1.1 is a French-language HyperCard stack distributed in BinHex form for Classic Mac. As a HyperCard title it ships as a stack of cards with scripted buttons and fields, run inside Apple's HyperCard player on System 6 or System 7. The release notes inside the BinHex header identify it as a French shareware contribution to the Mac HyperCard scene of the early 1990s.
HyperCard heritage
HyperCard stacks like this one defined the late-1980s and early-1990s Mac shareware ecosystem, letting authors mix text, bitmap art, and HyperTalk scripts into a single double-clickable document. Opening Ouvrez Le Ban 1.1 requires HyperCard 2.x or the free HyperCard Player; without it the stack will not launch.
French-language scene
The title ("open the ban," a French idiom for a ceremonial drum roll) and the HC suffix on the archive name place it in the francophone Mac user-group circuit that traded stacks via BBS, FTP, and mailed floppies. Many such stacks were never translated and remain primarily of interest to French speakers and HyperCard historians.
BinHex distribution
The .hqx wrapper preserves the Mac resource fork so the stack arrives intact across non-Mac transports. Use Stuffit Expander or a modern equivalent like The Unarchiver to decode it back into a usable HyperCard stack file before launching.
Running it today
Under emulation in Mini vMac, Basilisk II, or SheepShaver with HyperCard installed, the stack should open without modification. Authoring-mode access (Cmd-Option) may or may not be enabled depending on the user level the author saved into the stack.
This file is part of the MacTrove archive. See the Thank You page for the upstream mirrors we rely on. It is BinHex encoded — use The Unarchiver to decode it.
