16 Marbles is a small shareware board puzzle for the Macintosh distributed in Info-Mac as 16-marbles-10.hqx. The readme describes it as "another nice little board game" whose object is to remove as many marbles as possible from the board, billed as easy to learn but hard to actually solve.
Gameplay
The player works against a fixed sixteen-marble layout and tries to clear as many pieces as possible under the game's removal rules. The author frames it as a quick-to-grasp puzzle that resists clean solutions, suitable for short sessions.
System requirements
The 1.0 release notes list a Macintosh with about one megabyte of free RAM and System 7 or better. The binary is shipped FAT, so it runs on PowerMacs as well as on the older 68k Macs that were still common when the game was uploaded.
Distribution terms
16 Marbles is shareware. The author's notice forbids distribution for profit or on CD-ROM without permission, with the explicit exception of the Info-Mac CD-ROM compilations.
