Strategic Overrun is a two-player military strategy game for the classic Mac, credited on Macintosh Garden to Eric Anderson and Erik Chen and dated 1996. The Info-Mac upload describes it succinctly as a strategic war game played like a lot of board war games with pieces on a mapped hexboard.
Hex-grid wargaming
Macintosh Garden classifies the game as Strategy with a hexagonal grid perspective. That places it in the small but committed niche of Mac-native hex-and-counter wargames that recreated traditional tabletop systems on screen rather than chasing real-time spectacle.
Two-player only
Both the Macintosh Garden listing and the original archive blurb stress two-player play; there is no mention of a computer opponent. The release distributed through Info-Mac is version 1.0.
Author note
The upload was submitted by Erik (dblmint@leland.stanford.edu), one of the two credited authors - the Stanford address dates the project to its mid-1990s university origins.
