Net Tac Toe is a networked take on the classic three-in-a-row paper game, built for Classic Mac OS so two players on separate Macs can square off across an AppleTalk network or local connection rather than passing a single mouse back and forth at one keyboard.
Gameplay
Standard 3x3 tic-tac-toe rules: alternate placing X and O marks, claim a row, column, or diagonal to win. Most matches end in a draw between competent players, which is part of the joke.
Networked Play
The hook is two-machine play over a network connection, letting one Mac host and another join, with moves relayed between the two clients in turn.
Era and Platform
A small Classic Mac shareware/freeware curio from the era when AppleTalk made simple peer-to-peer games trivial to ship. Runs under the Classic Mac OS toolbox.
