Grand Chess Yerevan 96 is a compilation of Grand Chess games played at the 32nd Chess Olympiad in Yerevan, Armenia. Twenty-five chess masters with ELO ratings between roughly 2250 and 2350 explored the variant invented by Christiaan Freeling, and every game from the event was recorded for this collection.
About Grand Chess
Grand Chess is a chess variant created by Dutch game designer Christiaan Freeling, played on a 10x10 board with additional pieces. The Yerevan 96 release was distributed by Solar Software as a way to introduce Mac users to the variant through real master-level play.
Format
The package is delivered as HTML pages combined with Java applets, so each game can be replayed move-by-move inside a web browser without an internet connection.
Requirements
You need a Java-enabled browser such as Netscape Navigator 3.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. Once unpacked the files run entirely from the local disk.
