About

Bushka Tutor 1.1 is a companion package to Christian Freeling's Bushka, distributed on Info-Mac as a self-contained tutorial for the two-player abstract board game. Authored by ed@mindsports.net, it walks readers through rules, strategy, and worked examples without requiring any helper application beyond a Java-enabled web browser of the era.

Tutorial structure

The package is organized as chapters covering rules, strategy and tactics, problems with solutions, and annotated sample games. Material is delivered as HTML so it can be browsed sequentially or used as a reference while playing the parent Bushka release.

Java applets

Interactive positions and replayable games are rendered through Java applets embedded in the HTML pages, the standard web-interactive medium for board-game tutorials in the late 1990s. A Java-capable browser of the period is required to use the interactive sections.

Relationship to Bushka

Bushka itself is a two-player abstract by Dutch designer Christian Freeling, sibling to his better-known abstracts such as Havannah, Grand Chess, and Emergo. The Tutor is a separate Info-Mac upload that supplements that release rather than replacing it.

Distribution

Released through Info-Mac as a stand-alone presentation file in the same self-displaying-archive style as Freeling's other chapters, requiring no installer and no helper beyond classic Mac OS and a browser.
