The Wealth Game is a Mac-exclusive freeware economic simulation by Harley Bradley that puts personal finance at the centre of play. You start at age 30 with a chosen career and have twenty in-game years to retire as a millionaire by making decisions about earning, saving, investing, and borrowing.
Gameplay Loop
Each turn presents a real-world money scenario: a job change, a property offer, a market opportunity, or an unexpected expense. Choices ripple through your balance sheet, and the goal of cracking a million dollars by age 50 keeps the pressure on through every decision.
Teaching Through Play
Built-in help screens explain concepts the author calls the secrets of the wealthy, from making money work for you to buying property with no money down. The game frames itself as a free alternative to late-night infomercial finance courses.
Careers and Choices
Career selection at the start sets your income trajectory, but smart investing matters more than salary. The simulation rewards diversification, patience, and the willingness to take calculated risks rather than chasing easy returns.
System Requirements
PowerPC native, runs on Mac OS 8, 8.1, and 9. The download weighs in at roughly 1.36 MB and was released in 2001.
Distribution
Released as freeware by Harley Bradley (nomsdos@en.com), with explicit notes that the title was Macintosh-only and never ported to Windows.
