Moshing Melvin is a 1999 freeware Classic Mac arcade game by Epic Banana, the two-brother shareware label run by Ryan and Gibrian Foltz. You play Melvin, dropped into a mosh pit, and rack up points by kicking, punching, and barging through other moshers who get in your way.
How it plays
The game is a short, score-chasing arcade brawler. The pit is a confined arena where other moshers act as moving obstacles; knock them down, keep moving, and avoid getting flattened yourself. Sessions are quick, controls are minimal, and the appeal is the absurd premise rather than depth.
Epic Banana pedigree
Epic Banana built a small catalog of ridiculous freeware Mac games during the late 1990s, archived today on Macintosh Garden, MobyGames, and the studio's own BarfQuestion site. Moshing Melvin is one of the more recognizable entries from that run.
System requirements
Moshing Melvin is a Classic Mac OS title from the late PowerPC era. It runs on Mac OS 8 and 9 on real hardware, or under the Classic environment on early Mac OS X (10.0 through 10.4 on PowerPC Macs). Intel Macs and modern macOS cannot run it natively; use SheepShaver or a comparable emulator.
Installation
Decompress the downloaded archive with StuffIt Expander, drop the resulting folder anywhere on a Classic Mac volume, and double-click the application to launch.
