LaserChase! is a 1991 two-player arcade game for the 68k Macintosh by Knut Mork, in the spirit of the classic light-cycle duels from Tron. Each player steers a continually-extending laser trail across the playfield and tries to maneuver the opponent into a wall, an obstacle, or the other player's own line, while staying alive themselves.
Gameplay
Two players share the keyboard and ride glowing trails from a top-down view. Trails persist behind each ship, so the arena fills up quickly and survival depends on cutting off the rival before painting yourself into a corner.
Author and Year
Written in 1991 by Knut Mork and distributed for the early Macintosh community.
System Requirements
Built for 68k Macs running System 1 through 6.x; runs cleanly under emulators such as Mini vMac, Mini vMac II, and Basilisk II. The release notes warn that it does not behave properly under MultiFinder.
Multiplayer Only
There is no single-player mode in the original release; the game expects two humans at one keyboard.
